JK has slipped into constitutional crisis: ANC

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA

Jammu, Aug 29: Lashing at the Omar Abdullah government, Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference today claimed the state has slipped into a constitutional crisis and the coalition no longer enjoys the confidence of the people.
Talking to media here after a party convention, ANC senior vice-president Muzzaffar Shah referred to “64 deaths in past 78 days, unabated curfew, irreparable damage to trade, education and health services compounded by the curbs on local media by the state government in Kashmir Valley.”
“This confirms that the state has slipped into constitutional crisis and the coalition government no longer enjoys the confidence of people,” he said.
Omar government has totally failed to restore peace in the valley, he said adding that the situation in Kashmir is political in nature and “the use of bullets to contain protestors” is no answer to the problem. Favouring peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue, Shah said that the vexed problem cannot be solved in a jiffy and all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir have to put in efforts to find an amicable solution.
