PDP directly responsible for present situation:Dr Farooq
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Aug 29: Expressing concern over the plight of the business community in Kashmir which has been hit by the frequent curfews and hartals, the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Resources, Dr Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party was responsible for the present situation in the Valley.
“My heart bleeds for people belonging to business community who have suffered heavily. Unfortunately young boys are being instigated by elements working behind the curtain for regaining their lost power and this entire suffering of people and bloodshed is a result of clandestine conspiracies,” Dr Abdullah told a local news agency, KNS.
He made it clear that during his speech in the Parliament recently he had said that Government of India should not rule the land but learn to win the hearts of the people.
While lambasting the role of opposition PDP, Dr Farooq said the party for the “sake of power was actually responsible for the present macabre situation of violence. In 1990’s similar situation was created by then Home Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed when Jagmohan was brought to the State as Governor.”
He said it was none other than Sayeed who is responsible for brining the AFSPA to the state. “Was Mufti Sayeed not in the capacity of then Home Minister of India really responsible for the killing of great leaders like Moulana Moulvi Farooq? On whose instructions the funeral procession of Moulvi Muhammad Farooq was fired upon?” he asked.
He said that it was during his tenure as state Chief Minister that negotiations were held with the top leadership of Hizbul-Mujahideen directly.
“However during Mufti’s regime all top ranking Commanders of the outfit who had participated in the peaceful negotiations were eliminated one by one. This speaks volumes about double standards and dual role of PDP and its sincerity towards people,” he said.
The Union Minister accused PDP of making huge investment in fomenting trouble and launching a vicious campaign against National Conference led government.
He said there were some forces bent upon destroying the real character of Article 370 which has given special status to State.
“These forces were active earlier also when Janta Party was formed and green turban was put on the head of Murarji Desai. People are very much cautious about the designs of these inimical forces and their masters.”
Asserting that “people have now realized the evil designs of PDP and started exposing them and their clandestine agenda,” Dr Abdullah asked people to realize that the long pending Kashmir issue cannot be resolved within month and therefore they should not fall prey in the hands of “ugly forces who label the present turmoil as a movement for change of Government.”
