JK Bank forwards panel for chairmanship

Srinagar, Aug 30: Jammu and Kashmir Bank has forwarded a panel to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the appointment of a new chairman to the Bank.
According to sources, the Board of Directors of the Bank convened a meeting Monday and forwarded a panel of three candidates for the post of chairman and chief executive of the bank.
Greater Kashmir has reliably learnt that former Executive Director of the Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad, tops the panel that includes Excise Commissioner GA Peer and Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Tanvir Jehan as two other candidates.
Mushtaq who retired in 2008 from the services of the Bank has handled credit and investments, human resources, foreign exchange, business and strategy and other vital divisions of the bank.
The post of the chairman fell vacant following the resignation of Dr Haseeb Drabu last week, who was asked by the state government to step down.
The charge of the chairman of the Bank is presently with Commissioner/Secretary Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey.
