Stop illicit timber trade or face action: Altaf to officers
Srinagar, Aug 30: The Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmad today asked the officers to stop timber smuggling or face action.
“Timber smuggling and encroachments should be stopped at any cost and the officers will be held accountable for any negligence,” Altaf told officers during a meeting. He asked the officers of the Wild Life Department to ensure that the green wealth was safeguarded within their respective jurisdictions.
He called for involving locals in containing the menace of timber smuggling.
Altaf said compensation of man animal conflict cases would be given to the deserving persons within a fortnight. He asked the officials to aware masses about the man-animal conflict to prevent its incidence.
