Jammu, Aug 4: Stating that Congress was the “root cause of turmoils and troubles” in the Valley, leader of the BJP legislators Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, on Wednesday revealed that a big faction of the of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, have urged the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to impose Governor’s rule in JK.
Commenting upon the statements of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah seeking political package from New Delhi to restore normalcy, and reports about a big faction of the leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, including the leader of the legislators Party, Choudhary Muhammad Aslam, pleading with the Prime Minister seeking for suspension of the Assembly and imposition of Governor rule to bring the situation under control, Gupta in a statement said, “It is a strange situation. This sort of duplicity is adding to our woes and sufferings. Centre is still fiddling with the real problem in a sensitive state like JK.”
Gupta voiced concern over “still vacillation” on part of Congress in adopting a firm approach to enforce law and order, and ensure safety of the people.
“Nationalists have been made hostages and there is total domination of anti-national elements and enemy agents, who have made a hell of the life,” Gupta said.
The BJP leader ridiculed the demand for political package on part of the Chief Minister by terming the current turmoil as a political problem. “This has created doubts about the credentials of the ruling party leaders. It appears that NC is also involved in fomenting trouble and fishing in the troubled waters to seek to get resorted to the position of pre-1953,” Gupta said.
“But the bigger onus lies on the shoulders of Congress who are still in this coalition which has failed not only to perform but is responsible for current turmoil as also bloodshed in the Valley,” he added.
Gupta castigated leaders of the coalition for what he termed as “weak kneed” approach of the Centre.
