Mirwaiz sends SOS to OIC
‘Kashmiris are being killed with impunity’
Srinagar, Aug 7: Concerned over the unabated human rights violations in the Valley, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) has urged upon the Organization of Islamic Nations (OIC) to call a special session of its Kashmir Contact Group.
Mirwaiz, who is continuously under house arrest today send a memorandum to Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary general of OIC of which the Hurriyat (M) has a status of an observer, and expressed resentment over the silence of OIC over the deteriorating situation and killings by troopers and police in the Valley during past over two months.
“Over 50 innocent youth have been killed and thousands others were injured in use of disproportionate use of force to quell the protests. The Government has clamped continuous curfew and does not even allow the people to offer Friday prayers at the Valley’s biggest mosque, Jamia Masjid,” the memorandum states.
Mirwaiz states that it is the legal and moral responsibility of the OIC to rise to the occasion and extend a helping hand to Kashmiris.
