Policy of bullets for brickbats inhuman: PUCL

Jammu, Aug 7: The PUCL has strongly condemned the killing of unarmed protesters in police firing in the valley saying the policy of bullets for brickbats was inhuman even under a dictatorship and totally unacceptable in a democracy.
“The government should have trained and equipped the police and other armed forces to ensure that in dealing with unarmed angry protesters, no life is lost on either side.”
“The present situation is the consequence of mishandling the situation and a callous disregard for the feeling of outrage of the people against the killing and disappearance of a large number of innocent persons,” it added.
