Distorting facts

This refers to the letter titled “Had Sheikh Joined Hands with Kak” by Fida Hassnain. This is complete distortion of the facts that it was Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah who thwarted the idea of Independent Kashmir. In fact Sheikh Sahib was a strong proponent of Independent Kashmir but the British plan was that Muslim majority parts will go to Pakistan and Hindu majority areas to India.
Secondly invasion of the tribal in 1947 is a clear indicator that Pakistan was in a hurry to have Kashmir much against the wishes of Sheikh Sahib and the general Kashmiri masses. That is why a common Kashmiri rose against the tribals. Also it must not be forgotten that till most recent times people had all the love for Pakistan and it was only Pakistan that was in the heart and minds of the people. Independence as an option to Kashmir problem was always seen as a betrayal to Pakistan and Muslim cause.
