Srinagar, Aug 8: A youth, injured in police firing in Shalteng on August 3, succumbed to his injuries at the SK Institute of Medical Sciences Soura on Sunday.
The 20 year old Fida Nabi Lone son of Ghulam Nabi of Umarabad HMT was injured at Shalteng during firing on the protesters by police and CRPF.
Family sources said Fida passed away at 9,30 PM at SKIMS Soura.
A SKIMS medico said Fida was on ventilator since he was admitted to the hospital.
On August 3, three civilians were killed in action by police and paramilitary CRPF troopers. These included Meraj ud Din Lone of Barthana Qamarwari, Anas Ahmad Ganai of Narwara Eidgah and Suhail Ahmad Dar of Zainakote HMT.
With Fida’s killing, the total number of civilian killings in Kashmir has reached 51 since June 11.
A pall of gloom descended the area after the news of Fida's death spread. People took to streets and shouted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. "We want justice," they shouted. "The killers must be punished."
