10 houses,Masjid damaged in Gurez blaze
Gurez: Six houses and a Masjid was completely gutted while as four residential structures suffered partial damaged in a blaze at Village Banjran, Tarbal area here.
According to an official communiqué, the fire tenders, police and locals tried to douse the fire which started at 8 pm, but could not save the property as the houses were made of wooden logs.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon has asked the SDM Gurez to provide immediate relief to the affected and provide tents, blankets, utensil sets, and assorted clothes to the fire sufferers.“Efforts are on to help the people reconstruct their houses as the area experiences heavy snowfall and the temperatures dip as much as minus 35 degrees,” the communiqué said.It said the Deputy Commissioner, Bandipore had been asked to release ex-gratia relief, as per Natural Calamity Relief Rules.The affected have appealed to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to provide them relief from the CM Relief Fund, for reconstruction of their houses.
