Finance Commission submits report to CM

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Nov 30: State Finance Commission, constituted by the previous government to suggest measures for equitable development of all the three regions of the state, submitted its detailed report to chief minister Omar Abdullah, here on Monday.
Official sources said the three member committee, headed by former Home Commissioner of the state and former vice chancellor of Alligarh Muslim University, Mehmood-ur-Rehman, submitted the report to the government and it is likely to be tabled before the cabinet for further discussion on Wednesday.
The Commission, which was constituted to study the regional disparity alleged by some Jammu based political parties, was supposed to complete the report within one year. However, it took three years to the Commission to deliberate upon all the issues and for this it was given extension from time to time by the government.
The other terms of reference of the Commission were identification of backward districts and their development at micro level, equitable distribution of resources for development, matters related to employment backlog, strengthening of local bodies, state of finances, augmentation of resources, matters related to expenditure and debt, mapping of regions and sub-regions and governance reforms with reference to decentralization.
