No let up in cold, minus 14.8 in Leh

Srinagar: There was no let up in cold gripping Kashmir region with Leh, the capital of Ladakh, recording minimum temperature of minus 14.8 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam and Gulmarg remained coldest in the Valley.
 An official of the Metrological department said the second largest inhabited place in the cold desert, witnessed a low of minus 11.0 degrees Celsius.
 Health resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir remained coldest in the Kashmir valley, recording a minimum of minus 4.6 degree Celsius while Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort, witnessed a low of minus 4.5 degree Celsius, the MeT official added.
 Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a slight rise in the night temperature, recording a low of minus 3.4 degree Celsius against 3.8 degree Celsius yesterday, the coldest of the season so far. Qazigund and Kokernag recorded minimum of minus 3.6 and minus 2.7 degrees Celsius while the night temperature in Kupwara stood at minus 4.3 degree Celsius. Jammu, the winter capital of the state recorded a low of 9.7 degree Celsius.
 The weatherman has predicted dry weather in the state in next 24-hours.
 “Rain/snow may occur at isolated places over hills of Jammu division and mainly dry in Kashmir division,” MeT office said.
