Qayoom’s bail plea: HC defers hearing

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Thursday deferred the hearing by a day into the bail plea by Kashmir Bar Association, president Mian Abdul Qayoom.
Official sources said that bail plea application came up for hearing before Justice Muhammad Yaqoob Mir.
They said that owing to the absence of assistant advocate general, Ali Muhammad Magray, the case was listed after lunch tomorrow.
The plea was transferred back from Jammu wing of the High Court to Srinagar after Chief Justice of directed listing case before single bench here.
On November 27 last, High Court had quashed second Public Safety Act against advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom and directed his release. Even though the administration released him, he was immediately arrested in another case and lodged in Hiranagar police station.  After his arrest in July, state administration imposed second PSA against Qayoom after the Court quashed the first one and directed his unconditional release.
Since his arrest in July, the lawyers across the Kashmir valley went on a strike and continued to abstain from courts for 125 days till November 08 when they announced suspension of strike.
