Mirwaiz Prevented From Offering Prayers At Jamia Masjid For 13th Friday

Srinagar, Dec 10: The Government on Friday placed chairmen of both the factions of Hurriyat Conference and separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah under house arrest.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that Syed Ali Shah Geelani has been placed under house arrest by the police for past 94 days.
The spokesman further said that Government has turned Geelani’s house into jail “without citing any ground” and was also barred from offering prayers.
Meanwhile, chairman of Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was prevented from offering congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid here for 13th Friday.
A spokesman of the amalgam said that Mirwaiz was put under house arrest again today to prevent him from offering the prayers.
“We will not tolerate this high-handedness and infringement of government in religious rights at any cost and Mirwaiz would lead prayers on next Friday at any cost,” he said.
