Hajjis complain cumbersome process to get luggage at airport

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Dec 10: The Hajjis returning from pilgrimage today alleged that the authorities at the Srinagar International Airport had made the release of their luggage a cumbersome affair.
Scores of Hajjis and their relatives told Greater Kashmir that on the return of Hajjis from the pilgrimage they were not being given their luggage at the airport on the same day, and instead are asked to come next day to get their luggage.
They said, however, when they go the next day to get their luggage, “after waiting for whole day, we are asked to again come the next day.”
“This is really cumbersome. I am here for the third day today. Everyday I come, in the evening I return empty handed with authorities excusing that they cannot release the luggage because of the rush and come next day,” said Khurshid Ahmad Parray of Pulwama.
A claimant from Uri said: “I am here since morning. It is already 3:30 and yet I have to receive the luggage. Where shall I go after 4 PM?”
He said: “I had also come yesterday. I received only two luggage and was asked to come next day for getting the rest.”
The claimants said that the state shows much interest in sending the Khuddam with the Hajjis, but now when they were facing the problems here, “there is no one to help us.”
