Ice hockey rink to come up in Leh
Srinagar, Dec 10: Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to construct an ice hockey rink in Leh district of Ladakh region, a state minister said.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib said the ice hockey rink at Leh will be constructed under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) and will be one of the high altitude ice hockey rinks in the world.
“The ice hockey rink will be constructed under the PMRP at the earliest so that it becomes one of the best rinks of the world,”
Chib said yesterday, while on a visit to Ladakh where he met a delegation of Executive Councillors of Leh, led by Chief Executive Councillor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Rigzin Spalbar. Leh, which is situated at an altitude of 11,500 ft is inhabited through out the year.
