Grateful nation

This is in response to Er. Maqsood Shahdad's letter (GK Dec 8). While Er.Maqsood acknowledges that there was no exploitation of farmers during the rule of Sheikh Muhammed Abdullah then how does he find that "Land to tiller" was done for gaining the vote bank. This logic of Er.Maqsood smacks of prejudice since there has been no other revolutionary step taken by any other person like Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. How many farmers got benefitted by that act and how did that act help in eradicating age old bonded labour is something that cannot be forgotten by a common Kashmiri. Credit must be given where it is due and that is the sign of a grateful nation.
