7 quintal polythene, Rs 20000 fine recovered

Srinagar, Dec 13: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation sleuths on Monday recovered around seven quintal of polythene bags during raids in the City markets, intensifying its drive to check the menace.
 The SMC Health Officer, Dr Reyaz Ahmed said a fine of Rs 20,000 was also recovered from the erring shopkeepers.
 The SMC sleuths conducted the raids in areas like Jehangir Chowk, HSHS, Mahraj Bazar and the tourist hub of Dal lake.
 Pertinently, sometime back the Dy CM Tara Chand had expressed serious concern over complaints of polythene use while the SMC was asked to act tough to curb the menace.
