Live IIT-classroom experience for teaching faculty at DOEACC Rangreth

Srinagar, Dec 14: The DOEACC centre Srinagar/Jammu, Rangreth, here is currently hosting a 10-day workshop on “Database Management System” being organized by the computer science department of IIT Bombay. The workshop is aimed to upgrade the skills of the teaching faculty.
 Talking to Greater Kashmir, Director DOEACC Centre Srinagar/Jammu, A H Moon said that 36 members of teaching faculty from Universities of Kashmir, and Jammu, Islamic University for Science & Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, SSM College of Engineering, Degree Colleges and DOEACC are participating in the workshop, which commenced on December 13, at Rangreth here.
 “This is the second workshop of its kind being hosted by DOEACC; the first one was held in June-July 2010 on “Effective Teaching/Learning of Computer Programming” which was attended by 25 participants. In future we plan to organize such workshops in cutting-edge technology areas concerning IECT and pioneer the real usage of ICT technology in education and training,” he said.
 About the workshop, coordinator Scientist-B DOEACC Centre Srinagar said. “In the morning session, the participants attend live lectures delivered by IIT-Bombay faculty in an interactive mode over satellite links, followed by an intensive lab session conducted through a Learning Management System (LMS).”
 Pertinently, DOEACC Centre Srinagar/Jammu has become an ISRO-IITB EDUSAT centre of IIT-Bombay for their e-Outreach Project under National Mission on Education through ICT.
