Malik cautions Muslims against nefarious designs
Srinagar, Dec 14: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik today cautioned the Muslims of Kashmir against the nefarious designs of mischievous elements and vested interests, urging them to maintain unity at all costs.
“We appeal to the Shia and Sunni Ulema to play positive role in this connection and lay stress on unity in their sermons,” the party chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik said during a meeting of the Committee, constituted for successfully conducting and concluding all the Muharram related programmes and processions.
The meeting was attended by advocate Zahid Ali of Jama’at –e-Islami, Ghulam Muhammad Sinlar of Itthad-ul-Muslimeen, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi of Awami Action Committee, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo of Anjuman Sharie Shiaan, Syed Salim Geelani of National Peoples’ Party, Ghulam Ali Gulzar of Majlis Itthad Milat and Hakim Abdur Rashid of Muslim League.
Meanwhile, party’s senior leader, advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat paid tributes to Sofi Muhammad Akbar, describing him a great Kashmiri pro-freedom leader and staunch advocate of independent Kashmir.
Bhat was addressing a condolence meeting at Sopore in Varmul district of north Kashmir on the occasion of Sofi Akbar’s death anniversary.
Bhat was accompanied by Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Muhammad Sidiq Shah, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Azam Zargar, Syed Nisar Jeelani, Abdul Rashid Mughloo and Moulvi Riyaz.
The delegation also visited the graveyard of Sofi and offered special prayers for him. They also paid floral tributes.
Meanwhile, Bhat condemned the arrest of Noor Muhammad Bhat, a lecturer of Gandhi Memorial College here. “The lecturer was arrested for setting question paper in which he had given questions regarding Kashmir’s prevailing situation,” said Bhat, according to Front statement, adding “the rulers dreaming of suppressing the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle should know that their all nefarious plans would come a cropper.”
