Khajuria anti-national, says Kamal
Srinagar, Dec 15: Senior National Conference leader and Member of Legislative Assembly for Hazratbal Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday described the senior Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Ashok Khajuria as “anti-national.”
Reacting to Khajuria’s recent statement about India would not grant ‘Azadi’ (independence) to Kashmir even if four more generations of Kashmiri Muslims were sacrificed for the demand, Kamal said, “No one can become an Indian by singing Jana-Gana-Mana. One has to accept the secular characteristic of India with heart and soul to claim that he is a true Indian.”
Kamal accused Khajuria of trying to spread communal hatred. “Parties like BJP want India to disintegrate,” he said.
Describing Khajuria’s demand to remove state flag from the Civil Secretariat, the highest seat of the government that houses the office of Chief Minister, his cabinet and top bureaucracy, against the constitution, Kamal said, “The red flag carrying plough symbol does not represent any particular party. It is a state flag and it has been endorsed by the Indian constitution.”
Kamal ridiculed Khajuria’s demand to not to allow separatists to go outside the state. “No one can stop Kashmiris from visiting other states and cities and express their opinion as it is their fundamental right,” said Kamal, who is also the younger brother of party patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and the uncle of chief minister Omar Abdullah.
On Khajuria training guns at Dr Farooq Abdullah for visiting temples, Kamal said, “There is nothing wrong in Muslims visiting temples and Hindus visiting shrines and masjids.”
