Jammu, Dec 18: RTI activists including members of JK RTI Movement and Sangrash RTI Movement met leader of opposition Mehbooba Mufti at her residence here on Saturday.
The RTI activists submitted a memorandum demanding immediate appointment of members of State Information Commission.
The RTI activists including Balvider Singh, who is also the convener of Sangarsh RTI Movement, Raman Sharma and Ayaz Mughal requested her that the selection process should be transparent and as far as possible it should also be unanimous.
They also discussed about the threats and harassment met by some RTI applicants across the state.
She gave a patient hearing and assured the RTI activists that all their demands would be taken into consideration and she would raise the genuine issues related to non implementation of RTI Act at the appropriate forum.
Mehbooba shared her concern about the safety and security of RTI applicants and reduction of excess fee for RTI applications.
