Boy hurt in blast

Srinagar: A boy was injured in a blast in Sogam area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said. Ten-year-old Owais, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone of Lone Mohalla, Sogam in the frontier district found some explosive device in his compound and started fiddling with it. The device went off resulting in minor injuries to the boy. The injured boy was removed Sub- district hospital for treatment.

Court rejects lecturer's bail plea 
Srinagar: A local court today rejected the bail application of the government college lecturer arrested last week on charges of setting a question paper which could have disturbed peace in the Valley. Principal District and Sessions Judge B L Bhat turned down the bail application of Gandhi Memorial College lecturer Noor Muhammad Bhat, who was arrested on December 10 for setting the paper which asked students about their opinion on the summer unrest in Kashmir. The students appearing in the English paper for BA, BSc and B Com annual examinations were surprised to find questions related to the five-month unrest in Kashmir.

Health Minister at winter secretariat
Srinagar: According to the Additional Secretary, Winter Secretariat, the Minister for Health and Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma will remain available in Winter Secretariat, Srinagar from December 20 to December 24, 2010 to meet the people for redress their grievances.

Budgam ,Kupwara DDB meetings rescheduled
Srinagar: The review meeting of District Development Board (DDB) for Budgam, which was scheduled on December 20 at 2.pm, would now be held at 10.30 am at SKICC on the same day, an official spokesman said.
 He said similarly, the DDB meeting of Kupwara would now be held at 2.pm instead of 11 am at SKICC on December 20.
