Hurriyat (M) activists shifted to Central Jail
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 18: Police on Saturday shifted 28 detained activists of Hurriyat Conference (M) to Central Jail.
Activists, who were arrested during a raid on Mirwaiz Manzil at Rajouri Kadal on late Thursday night were lodged in three different jails of the city, said a Hurriyat leader.
He said counsel for the detained Hurriyat activists advocate Nazir Ahmed Ronga and advocate Shahid-ul-Islam approached the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here on Saturday to seek orders to police for providing reasons for their detention.
Despite court orders, police declined to provide the information, and instead shifted the detainees to the Central Jail, said one of the counsels.
A senior Hurriyat leader said the activists had done nothing. “They were sleeping when police raided Mirwaiz Manzil to forcibly shift Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to Nageen residence,” he said.
Police said the Hurriyat activists were arrested under section 107 CrPc and section 151 CrPc for trying to create law and order problem.
“They were produced before an executive magistrate today and sent to Central Jail on judicial remand,” police added.
