6 KILLED, 41 HURT IN RAJOURI ACCIDENT

Rajouri, Dec 1: Six persons lost their lives while 41 others suffered injuries, 17 of them critically, when an overcrowded mini-bus carrying them skidded off the road and plunged into a 200 ft deep gorge in Kalakote area of Rajouri district on Wednesday.
Officials said that the ill-fated mini-bus (JK06-0459) was on its way from Tata Pani to Kalakote when it met with the mishap near Khargala. Eyewitnesses revealed that the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve, which led to the mishap.
Four passengers died on the spot, while around 43 others were injured. Around 47 people were travelling in the vehicle having capacity of 25 passengers.
Police and army rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured to a local hospital where two more passengers succumbed to their injuries. Eighteen passengers were said to be in critical condition and were shifted to Government Medical College Hospital.
The deceased passengers have been identified as Pooja Devi (22) daughter of Narinder Singh of Shila, Anil Kumar son of Kher Singh of Tatta Pani, Anuradha daughter of Rajinder Singh of Tatta Pani, Muhammad Arif son of Muhammad Iqbal, Shakeel Ali and Sonia son of Rajinder of Balakot.
