Protests in Kupwara against fire service deptt

Srinagar: An ancient Masjid in Batergam Bala area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district was gutted in a fire incident on Tuesday night sparking off massive protests on Wednesday morning.
Fire raged from Central Jamia-Kadeem, Batergam Bala in the frontier district around 10:45 last night. The fire brought scores of people out of their houses to launch an operation to control the fire.
The locals also rushed to the nearby main town to inform the fire service department about the incident.
Hundreds of people took to streets and staged demonstrations against the fire services department. Chanting slogans, the protesters accused the department of negligence. Later, police officials reached the spot and assured the protesters to take up the issue with the concerned department. (PBI)
