Police thrashes Dalgate fire victims

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Dec 19: The fire victims whose houses were gutted past week in the tourist hub of Dalgate said they were Sunday beaten ruthlessly by police.
The victims, comprising of around two dozen families left shelter-less in the devastating fire said, they were staging a peaceful sit-in in the area against the   “government callousness” when the police popped up there.
“We were crying on the government apathy towards us that nobody so far has come to provide any kind of relief to us when cops started beating us,” the victims said.
They said all the fire affected including women were beaten and chased away.
They accused the local MLA of being callous towards the constituency.
The victims appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to look into the matter.
