Students protest chilly schooling, again
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 20: Hundreds of students of various schools on Monday staged demonstrations in the City to protest the government’s move of winter schooling across the Valley.
Reports said early in the morning scores of students of a private school at Raj Bagh assembled at Press Colony, Lal Chowk and staged demonstrations against the government’s winter schooling decision. Chanting anti-government slogans, the protesting students accused the government of misleading the students with false promises of providing proper heating systems in the schools.
“In sub-zero temperature, we’re forced to go to schools and sit in cold classrooms. This is unfair and unjustified decision on part of the government,” a student, identifying himself as Abid Mir said.
“The government should reconsider the decision and announce winter vacations at the earliest,” he added.
Later in the day, the students of some more schools took to streets in this capital and staged demonstrations to protest the government’s decision.
The protesting students were demanding announcement of winter vacations by the government.
