HC quashes PSA against Firdous Shah
Srinagar, Dec 21: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday quashed detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) of Firdous Ahmad Shah, president of the Democratic Political Movement (DPM), and directed authorities to release him forthwith.
Sources said that after hearing the arguments of defense and prosecution, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar found as inadequate the evidence produced by the prosecution to book any person under PSA.
Pertinently, Firdous Ahmad Shah was among the 12 persons whose detention under the PSA was revoked by the state government in October this year after the Unified Headquarters meeting. Shah refused to fulfill tough terms and conditions associated with the orders.
