Not feasible

This refers to the debate on winter schooling, initiated by Greater Kashmir. It is good to see diverse points of view on the issue which concerns our children. However, we must not hit in the air and speak anything that suits us. It is unfortunate that writers are approaching the issue from the coaching centers' perspective. Winter schooling and coaching centers are not related. Coaching centers are operating over and above the winter schooling timing. Even if they are not doing so, they can. What is surprising is that we are missing a basic point that it is extreme chill outside. No amount of heating arrangements in dilapidated school buildings is going to make the students comfortable. The debate must end on this point itself. Indeed winter schooling is a good step but first the state government must tour the schools and see the condition of school buildings. In any case it won’t cost the state much to have heating arrangements in winter schools. But this arrangement should not be the placement of a Bukhari. It should be a full fledged heating arrangement, probably on the type of central heating. The government is spending lavishly on so many futile functions. Can’t is spend the money on central heating in schools.
