+2 Lecturers’ Forum to hold provincial body election
Srinagar, Dec 22: J&K Plus Two Lecturers’ Forum is holding provincial body election in January, 2011.
The Forum, at a meeting held at SIE here with president, Muhammad Usman Malik in chair, nominated Abdul Rashid Bhat, ex-president, as chief election commissioner and Ghulam Hassan Dar as election commission for the polls.
“Muhammad Usman Malik will make overall supervision of the election,” Forum said in a statement, adding “January 1 has been fixed as last date for filing of nomination papers and January 5 as final date for its withdrawal. Only elected central executive members can file nominations for central provincial body. The member should have at least three years of remaining service before superannuation. Such central executive members desirous to contest for any post and are likely to be elevated as principals shall give undertaking to the government that they shall forgo elevation if made within three years.”
Meanwhile, the Forum has hailed the government decision on “winter schooling”, urging it (govt) not to succumb to the pressure of vested interests. “Winter schooling shall boost the educational system and save the poor students from being fleeced by the coaching/tuition centres,” it said.
