Job opportunities
This refers to the United Progressive Alliance chairperson, Sonia Gandhi’s assertion that youth in Jammu and Kashmir are alienated. She is right. But what is the reason for this alienation. There is a large section of youth without jobs or any other employment opportunities. They are roaming from pillar to post in search of a job. But the problem in the government sector is that not many jobs are available. The private sector is not able to flourish to the extent of absorbing all the youth. At this time what is required is the establishment of more industries in the state and the revival of the sick industrial units. That is possibly only with the help of New Delhi, which must initiate serious action in this regard. Recently it has appointed a committee headed by C Rangarajan to look into the job issues in the state. The committee can propose establishment of more industrial units in the state and also the creation of more jobs in the government sector. That is the only way to bring this alienation to end.
