Churches in city decorated on Christmas eve

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar: Churches in the city on Friday evening presented a magnificent look as they have been decorated on Christmas eve.
People would throng St Luke Church in Dalgate (Drogjan), All Saints Church at Ram Munshi Bagh and Holy family catholic Church  at Maulana Azad Road Srinagar on Saturday.
Governor, N N Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah have greeted the people on Christmas eve and hoped that this occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity for the State.
In his message, Vohra observed that the apostle of peace, Jesus Christ, preached love, compassion and brotherhood, adding that his teachings were perhaps more relevant now than ever before, when the world was ridden with hate, greed and intolerance.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah hoped that the festival would herald a new era of peace, progress and tranquility and strengthen bonds of harmony and brotherhood in the State, which he said was famous for secular and tolerant cultural ethos. Omar said festivals help to reinforce cultural traditions and promote unity in diversity.
Meanwhile, National Conference president and union minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah, has felicitated the people.
