Retired college professors appeal Accountant General
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 24: Retired college professors and lecturers on Friday appealed to the state government and Principal Accountant General to revise their pension cases as per its earlier issued orders.
A delegation of the academicians told Greater Kashmir that through Govt order No. 216-F of 2009 dated 24-09-2009 most of the pensioners had got their pension revised by their respective banks/ treasuries including retired college lecturers/ professors. However, most of the academicians came to know about the order later. “We were told to send our pension revision cases to the office of Accountant General, Srinagar, and accordingly the direction was followed in February this year. In June letters were issued from AG’s office to such retirees that matter has been referred to finance department for clarification before processing them,” said the delegation.
They said the Finance department had clarified the cases under order No. (OM No.A/18(2009)-758 dated 20-08-2010).
“Later the clarification was cleared by higher audit too. But now the authorities concerned (in AG’s office) are claiming that the records have to be computerized and the department has no concerned official (Software Engineer), and hence it will take some more months for re-fixation of their pension”.
The retirees whose fixation had been made by respective banks/ treasures continue to draw their pension at revised rates for last more than a year, they said.
The delegation said some of them were above 75 years and even 80 years of age. “We request the authorities concerned to address our genuine cases,” they said.
