JK Food Festival begins at Dilli- Haat

New Delhi, Dec 26: Showcasing the ethnic cuisine of all the three regions of J&K, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today inaugurated a 15-day food festival at Dilli-Haat, here.
The festival is being organised by J&K Tourism Development Corporation to attract tourists to the J&K by showcasing its unique food and cultural heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Jora, according to an official statement, said that J&K continues for the premier tourist destination for all types like leisure, adventure and pilgrim.
“Record numbers of over 85 lakh pilgrims have visited Mata Vaishano Devi, besides 4.5 lakh have paid obeisance at Amarnath cave. An additional number of 5 lakh tourists have also visited Kashmir Valley and Ladakh,” he said.
The Tourism Department, the minister said, is creating additional infrastructure for facilitating the visit of tourists. “Five hotels at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore are being constructed by JKTDC at Yousmarg, Sonamarg, Chashmashahi, Gulmarg, besides renovating the famed Budshah Hotel,” he maintained.
To mention recently food festival was organised at Agra in collaboration with Hotel Raddisan during Common Wealth Games at India International Trade Fair, New Delhi at Dilli Haat.
Besides, attracting Tourists to State and displaying culture of the three regions of the State, a good amount of revenue is also being generated from these endeavours of J&K Tourism Development Corporation, it said.
