Beehama observes shutdown for 2nd day
SHIFTING OF DC OFFICE
SHEIKH NAZIR
Ganderbal, Dec 2: The Beehama area here on Thursday observed a complete shutdown for the second consecutive day against the proposed shifting of DC office to Duderhama.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed on the strike call given by the Beehama Traders Federation. “We have decided to fight the move tooth and nail as it will adversely affect our business and livelihood” Traders Federation members told Greater Kashmir.
“Beehama is the centre place and when the construction of mini-secretariat was going on in Duderhama we were promised that DC office will not be shifted there. But the government has forgotten its promise,” said Ejaz Ahmad a shopkeeper.
When contacted, the District Development Commissioner, Dilshada Khan said “the decision of shifting the DC office cannot be changed. “Why Beehama residents didn’t raised the issue when the government decided to construct the mini-secretariat in Dudarhama,” she asked.
