Jammu, Dec 2: Concerned over the "retrenchment" of jobs, a local trade union has threatened to launch an agitation against a deal of Hotel Corporation of India giving one of its hotels in  the Valley to a Mumbai-based private company.
Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) has demanded cancellation of a deal in which Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) was giving its Centaur Lake View Hotel in Srinagar to a Mumbai-based private company BD&P Hotels.
"We warn HCI management that if the deal is not stopped, the entire working class of Jammu and Kashmir will launch agitation to oppose this fraudulent deal", state president of JKCCTU Muhammad
      Maqbool told reporters here.
"It would lead towards retrenchment of jobs of Kashmiri people by the new management" JKCCTU leader said.
He said the state government had offered the property to HCI with a motive to encourage inflow of capital into J&K and provide more job opportunities to permanent residents of the state.
However without the consent of the state government, the HCI made an agreement on October 15 with the Mumbai-based company, giving it to a private party on a long-term management contract along with manpower of about 350 employees, he said.
