VAT Return last date is 20 Dec

Amendments made in Act

Srinagar, Dec 2: The last date for filing of return of the VAT for first and second quarters of 2010-2011 has been fixed as 20-12-2010.
 According to a statement by the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) the date has been fixed by virtue of SRO 442 dated 2nd December, 2010 issued by Finance Department vide no. ET/VAT/201/2008-I dated 2-12-2010.
 Further, according to the statement, the Finance Department vide notification 441 dated 2-12-2010 issued vide no. ET/VAT/201/2008-I dated 2-12-2010 has made following three amendments in J&K Value Added Tax Act 2005:
 One, in rule 16 for the words “five years” wherever occurring, the words “six years” shall be substituted;
 Two, in proviso  to sub rule (2) of rule 28 for the words “three months”  the words “six months” shall be substituted; and
 Three, in sub-rule (2) of rule 55 for the letter and figure “Rs 10,000” the letter and figure “Rs.50,000” shall  be substituted.
