Police arrests ‘kidnapper,’ recovers girl
Srinagar: Police in Pattan has arrested a ‘kidnapper’ and recovered the girl from him. According to police statement, a teenage girl of Udena, Pattan Baramulla was allegedly kidnapped by Ghulam Ahmed Bhat of the same area on December 26. “Her parents lodged a complaint with police who constituted a special team,” the statement said adding the policemen conducted nocturnal raids on some houses and apprehended the accused. Police said the kidnapped girl was recovered during a raid in Ahmedpora village on December 27, adding the girl was handed over to her parents after completion of legal formalities.
‘Govt likely to give big projects to SHGs’
Srinagar: State government is likely to handover some big engineering projects to Self Help Group of Engineers. In a meeting with SHG, the Employment Minister, Abdul Gani Malik said, “Government is considering to give big projects to the Self Help Group of Engineers, because the technocrats are involved in the Scheme.” A delegation of SHG led by its President, Syed Parvez Hussain briefed the minister about the Scheme and apprised him all the problems being facing by SHG’s during execution of works. The president appealed to the minister that the SHG’s should be given relaxation in Service Tax, Sales Tax and supply orders of government departments and District barrier of SHG cards.

Srinagar: B A second year students who appeared in the history paper on Monday have alleged that the question paper was not in accordance with the pattern notified by the University of Kashmir. “The paper setter had skipped some chapters as a result of which majority of students could not attempt all the marks,” a group of candidates told Greater Kashmir. They have appealed to the vice-chancellor, University of Kashmir to look into the matter besides awarding some grace marks to all the candidates in the paper.
90 airlifted in Kargil courier
