Rebuild things

The New Delhi appointed interlocutors on Kashmir have snubbed the state government for its poor performance. That is how I could read the news story titled “Be accountable: interlocutors to JK Govt” (GK Dec 24). The recent crisis in Kashmir should have made the state government vigilant and helped them in plugging the loopholes in the system. But unfortunately they are taking it lightly, believing that nothing of that sort shall happen in future. But Kashmir is a place which is too unpredictable. You never know what is going to happen the next moment. It is high time for the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to set things right rather than pocketing the embarrassment even at the hands of his own people. The allegation that state is not transparent is leveled by the interlocutors and not the separatists. So Omar must not take it as an allegation but a chance to rebuild things that were not rebuild due to crisis. To begin with, he must order release of all the youth detained during the recent turmoil and withdrawal of charges against them. That would be a great step.
