Reconsider it

Much hype has been created by the government about the cancellation of winter vacations. It seems more a political decision than an administrative one. Obviously there is a mixed response to the proposed programme but the balance is definitely tilting in favour of those who oppose the move. If bureaucrats are given all the heating gadgets to warm their houses and offices, why do they migrate to Jammu at the beginning of the winter? If they can not resist the biting cold, how can a child do that? Why is he compelled to sit in the schools where suitable furnishing is unavailable, not to talk of the furniture which is a distant dream? An interesting logic put forth is that academic loss is to be compensated. Since the examination are already over, whatever has been taught was asked in the examination supplemented by a huge relaxation in the question papers, the above mentioned logic loses its weightage at the very outset. Another interesting argument has been set by the authorities that when the students can go to the coaching centres why they are reluctant to go to the schools. Unfortunately, the authorities are overlooking the fact that a student goes to the coaching centre only for three hours and in some cases less than that, whereas, he has to be in school from 11 to 4 pm in chilly Chillai Kalan, irrespective of whether  he will be taught  or not. Moreover, it is a fact that most of the coaching centres are well equipped with infrastructure and in rural areas where commercial coaching centres are not in vogue small groups of children go to the homes of their respected teachers to receive coaching. It is better to reconsider the decision.
