Residency Road overwhelmed by mud
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Dec 3: The posh Residency Road is no more posh as mud has covered its entire blacktopping –making the pedestrian and the vehicular movement not only difficult but hazardous too.
A light shower could be enough to make this road a death trap for many when the surface goes slippery.
The movement of tippers carrying construction material is understood to be the cause of the menace while the authorities have failed to check it.
“One wonders whether the government is concerned towards this City or not when it doesn’t even bother look at the plight of this marketplace in the heart of the City,” said a shopkeeper while pointing towards the mud outside his shop.
Officials said besides the civic body, it was the duty of the Roads and Building department to keep the roads clear while the Traffic police department was responsible to ensure that no uncovered tipper plies on the City streets.
But for now, none seems to be bothered about the Residency Road.
Meanwhile, the City centre traders have appealed Divisional Commissioner, Dr Asghar Hassan Samoon to look into the matter on priority basis and get the road “cleared of the mess before any eventuality takes place”.
