Reframe priorities for KVK Action Plans: VC SKUAST-K

Srinagar, Dec 4: To make the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) more farmer centric and result oriented, the SKUAST-K started a series of Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meetings of all KVKs under its aegis
 In this behalf, a SAC Meeting of KVK Budgam was held at under the chairmanship of Dr Tej Partap, Vice-Chancellor
 SKUAST-K at Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture the other day. 
 While speaking on the occasion, the VC said for getting focused attention and obtaining specific results, the KVKs’ scientists should reorient their priorities for the Action Plans. “Extensive survey of the areas be carried to document current problems of farmers etc,” he stressed.
 Dr. Partap emphasized that the KVKs should prepare 5-year plans involving all institutes and stakeholders. “This can be done by forming teams of scientists, farmers and especially agriculture economists,” he said, adding that the Line Departments and the University should work in tandem to alleviate the problems of the farmers and put joint efforts in this endeavour.
 Earlier Dr G A Wani, Programme Coordinator, KVK Budgam gave resume of progress of the proceeding year and also briefed about the success stories of the KVK Budgam.
