200 auxiliary policemen chosen for disaster relief: DGP

Jammu, Dec 6: The government has nominated around 200 personnel of auxiliary police for the State Disaster Response Force at zonal-level to deal with any disaster situation.
These personnel have been fully equipped and trained for their designated work, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda said at the 5th Civil Defence Conference-2010.
The state police chief also stressed on engagement of more volunteers from districts, Tehsils, remote and far-flung areas to increase public awareness about disaster management.
“We need to take major initiative to train and acquaint more and more youngsters on civil defence mechanism to meet challenges in exigencies and natural calamities in the state,” the DGP said at the Raising Day of Homeguards and Civil Defence.
