Srinagar, Dec 6: Cycle Chalawo, Sehat Banavo! This could be the tip of the day from Big 92.7’s Srinagar station this Wednesday when the country’s popular FM radio channel will host mega a cycling event on the banks of famed Dal lake.
In a bid to revive the yesteryear popular medium of daily travel, which was eco friendly and healthy, alike, the Big 92.7 is all set to host the Avon Big Greenathon in collaboration with the leading bicycle maker Avon Cycles. Greater Kashmir is the media partner for the event.
An initiative by Big’s 92.7’s Sardar Nasir Ali Khan aka RJ Nasir, the Avon Big Greenathon, is expected to attract a considerable participation from various quarters including students, sportsmen and bureaucrats.
“Riding bicycle, needs to be revived to at-least once week level,” opines RJ Nasir.
Given the traffic rush and pollution witnessed on the City streets, the Radio Jockey says cycling could counter both and at the time be a healthy activity.
“Through the event we want to educate the people about the eco-friendly and the health benefits of cycling,” Nasir says.
The young RJ hopes that the event will help revive the “culture of cycling”.
Soon after the Greenathon, one lucky listener will be gifted an AVON JOCKEY bicycle! - autographed by the RJ, the FM people said.
“The Greenathon will engage the citizens of India to one unique pledge to cycle to work at least once a week,” said a 92.7 BIG FM statement.
“The Radio Station has crafted AVON BIG Greenathon for all its 45 stations throughout the country.”
Speaking about event Sidarath Arora, Cluster Head, J &K, 92.7 BIG FM, said: “We at BIG FM are always trying to reach out to the people of the City and in this process we try to positively impact the lives of every listener, the idea of Greenathon came from our listeners, I am proud of RJ Nasir that he took the initiative of starting this activity and now full team of BIG FM is supporting him to bring the change.”
