Smugglers attack forest guards, injure 3

Ganderbal, Dec 6: Three forest guards were wounded when timber smugglers attacked them in compartment number nine of Mansabal Forest Range in Chattergul Kangan on Monday.
 According to officials, a group of five to seven timber smugglers attacked the forest guards with sharp weapons when they tried to stop them from cutting trees. “The guards raised an alarm and caught the attention of locals who reached on the spot,” the official said adding the timber smugglers however managed to escape leaving axes and saw on the spot.
 The wounded guards have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh of Wusan Kangan, Noor Muhammad of Nagbal  Ganderbal and Peer Moomin of Haripora Kangan.
