CM for e-tendering of dev works
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Dec 8: Pinpointing the necessity of fast tracking development projects and bringing in more transparency in awarding contracts for works, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday flagged e-tendering, one of important measures in this direction.
“Let PWD be vanguard agency to initiate this practice and take to e-tendering for works of above Rs five crores to start with,” he said adding that the PMGSY schemes could be short listed for the purpose.
Chairing the meeting of J&K State Rural Road Development Agency (SRRDA) here, the Chief Minister directed the R&B Department to study various e-tendering models and select a befitting one with all required fool proof securities.
“The necessary training to the staff concerned and contractors is also imperative to make the system effective in all respects”, he advised and asked the department to take all necessary steps in this direction.
Taking stock of the maintenance aspect of roads completed under PMGSY, the Chief Minister said that an institutional mechanism at SRRDA level for periodical monitoring of maintenance operation should be put in place with a Nodal Officer.
On fast clearing of land acquisition issues, the Chief Minister said that revenue department should send land acquisition report fortnightly giving case-wise details, to the Minister of State for Revenue for monitoring, while the status of these cases would be reviewed by the Minister for Revenue on monthly basis. “This would give necessary impetus to the land acquisition process which otherwise consumes lot of time”, he added and said that revenue authorities at all levels needed to be geared up in this regard.
