Habba Kadal gets Rs 50 lakh for dev
Srinagar, Dec 8: Chairperson, State Commission for Women and MLA Habba Kadal Shameem Firdous on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs for the constituency development, an official handout said.
She urged upon the concerned departments to speed up the work on various development schemes going on in her constituency.
Firdous also inspected various works in Habba Kadal. GKNN
Prof G R Jan is director CCAS
Srinagar, Dec 8: Dr GR Jan Senior Professor of Persian took over as the Director of the centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS), Kashmir University.
The KU people said the author of many books on central Asian issues, Prof Jan has made remarkable contribution on history of Persian literature with special reference to Tajik and Kashmir.
He has published more than 20 research papers on various themes concerning central Asia in reputed journals.
The KU fraternity has congratulated Prof Jan for the appointment.
Meanwhile a function was organised in CCAS and attended by the faculty members and the Non-teaching staff of the centre to give warm farewell to Prof G M Mir the outgoing Director.
Senior Faculty member and the dean, College Development Council, Prof Mushtaq A Kaw on behalf of the faculty spoke about contributions made by Prof G M Mir as the Director. Prof Kaw assured full cooperation to Prof G R Jan, the new director and hoped that under his guidance, the centre will achieve new heights in the academics.
