Schools should not be affected by conflict: Omar

Jammu, Dec 8: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday emphasised on grooming children in a conducive educational temperament and said schools and educational institutions should not be affected by conflict.
 "Let us keep schools and studies away from agitational politics," he said, addressing students at the annual day function of a school here.
 Underscoring the importance of hassle-free schooling, Omar said educational institutions and students should be kept conflict-neutral under all circumstances.
 The Chief Minister's statement comes in the wake of schools and other educational institutions remaining closed for almost three months during the series of agitations in the Kashmir Valley earlier this year.
 "School is the first cradle after the mother's lap to nurture young buds and shape them morally and academically," Omar said, adding, encouraging and advantageous atmosphere in educational institutions inculcate interest in young students in studies and extra circular activities.
 He said the present age is the age of science and technology and imparting best quality education to the students was need of the hour in order to mould them into the best human resource Omar said that equal attention should be given to development of sports in educational institutions to develop the spirit of sportsmanship and zest for achieving goals in the students as sports presently have global importance.
