Illegal construction in Pahalgam
PDA keeps permission order in abeyance

Pahalgam, Jan 31: The Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) has kept in abeyance the permissions granted by it earlier to some influential people for construction purpose in the ecologically fragile zones of this world famous tourist resort.
The step comes following a series of reports carried out by this newspaper.
The order no 07, 2010 of the PDA reads: “In light of the report given to by the Executive Engineer, PDA regarding violations taking place in respect of the structures by its owners, the permission earlier granted by the PDA for these constructions are hereby kept in abeyance with immediate effect till they rectify the default and violations pointed out by the Executive Engineer, PDA in the notices served on the parties separately”.
The notice reads that the restoration of the permission would be considered on the recommendations of the Executive Engineer, PDA about the rectifications of the violations by the agencies.
When contacted, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pahalgam, Waheed Tak while confirming keeping the permission in abeyance said, “ The concerned parties have been served the notice and accordingly their construction has been halted till further orders. I am studying their cases and if at all they have violated the norms their structures will be raised to ground.”
Tak said that a special checking squad has been formed to keep check on the illegal constructions and recently many illegal structures have been raised to ground.
